Shaolin-monksAncient Tips to a Long Life

Last week my cousin Bari sent me this:
“Ten Tips From A Shaolin Monk On How To Stay
Young”. Most of us have heard of the Shaolin
Monastery. It was founded in the 5th century and
has been the main association with the martial
arts. I was fascinated with Shaolin and Kung Fu
for years. I read every book I could get my hands
on and when the Kung Fu TV series started. I never
missed one adventure of Kwai Chang Caine played by
David Carradine. I remember the sayings: Master
Kan in the show.

“To hit a target… is to exercise the inner
strength. Indeed there are two kinds of strengths.
The outer strength is obvious: it fades with age
and succumbs to sickness. Then there is the ch’i,
the inner strength. Everyone possesses it, too.
But it is indeed much more difficult to develop.
The inner strength lasts through every heat and
every cold. Through old age and beyond. –
Wow was I excited and inspired, I knew I had to
develop Chi and the inner power and to this day I
still work on cultivating my Chi.

My life has followed three stages. When I was
young I developed the skills as a warrior learning
the martial art skills and as I matured I became a
healer and a priest. Today that may sound like a
video game or something from an old Druidism
religion of the Celtic people. Life is an
interesting journey, staying alive is challenging.

These ancient tips to a long life from the
Shaolin monetary still apply today.

1) Don’t think too much. Thinking takes energy.
Thinking can make you look old.
2) Don’t talk too much. Most people either talk or
do. Better to do.
3) When you work, work for 40 minutes then stop
for 10 minutes. When you look at something all the
time, it can damage your eyes and also your
internal organs and peace.
4) When you are happy, you need to control your
happiness; if you lose control then you damage
your lung energy.

5) Don’t worry too much or get angry because this
damages your liv er and your intestines.
6) When you eat food don’t eat too much, always
make sure you are not quite full as this can
damage your spleen. When you feel a bit hungry
then eat a little.
7) When you do things take your time, don’t hurry
too much. Remember the saying “Hasten slowly you
will soon arrive.”
8) If you only do physical exercise all the time
and you never do Qi gong this makes you lose your
balance and you will become impatient. You lose
the Yin of your body. Exercise balances the Yin
and the Yang.
9) If you never exercise, just peace, meditation,
soft training, Qi Gong, then this doesn’t give you
Yang energy so you use up your Yang energy.

I have spent most of my life studying and

Are you gulping down enough water?

Drinking water will eliminate a host of problems
for you.

The first thing to do when you jump out of bed in
the morning is to drink a quart of water as soon
as your feet hit the floor.

It will flush your stomach and gastrointestinal
tract. After a nights sleep we get dehydrated.
When you gulp down a quart of water first thing in
the morning, you flush the mucous and other
garbage from your stomach, intestines and kidneys,
and you will start to feel better with in days.

Drink water first thing as soon as you get out of
bed and you will feel the difference in every
aspect of your health.

When we are dehydrated we get sluggish, dizzy,
constipated and irritable. I have been doing this
for years. This is a great health habit done by
thousands all over the world and it is incredibly
powerful in improving digestion.

Another great time of the day to drink water is
during a strong workout in which you are
excessively sweating. Be careful not to drink too
much, a liter should be enough to feel energetic
and mentally alert.

images I
can’t stress to you how important it is to stay
hydrated. If I am not drinking water, I am
drinking green tea. It works as an anti-oxidant
and keeps your body hydrated.

As far as coffee goes, those diet and sugary
sodas, the sweetened waters, the sports drinks and
all of those other concoctions- Forget about it!
Most of them dehydrate you or stress your body
with sugar.

Water will help you lose excess body flab,
strengthen your immune system and make you
healthier.

In addition to drinking green and white tea, make
sure you’re taking a daily supplement like the
Multi-Four from Qi Essentials. They come
individually packed so you can slip a package into
your pocket if you are not at home and they are
loaded with vitamins, minerals and fish oil.

Are you feeling stressed?

I had a real scar the other day. It was the middle
of the day and my office was filled with patients,
when my mother called from Michigan and said, “The
ambulance is here I am on my way to the hospital”
and hung up. Damn Ma, what was I supposed to do
with that info? How was I going to get in touch
with her? At 92 years young she sure doesn’t carry
a cell phone. What hospital was she going too and
should I hop on a plane now? My head was spinning.
I immediately called my son who lives near her and
No answer! I called my daughter-in-law, No answer!
Finally I called a good friend who lives near by
and she got the details for me and later called me from
my Mom’s hospital room. It was a sever stomach
pain that was diagnosed as “Diverticulitis- (a
bulging sac of the inner lining of the
intestine that become inflamed and infected). No
one knows exactly what causes the sacs, or pouches
of diverticulitis to form but it is painful and
puts you on the toilet seat most of the day.

I’m sure it all started from the foods they have
at the assisted living facility my mother lives
in. People who eat mostly processed food, as many
Americans eat, do not get enough fiber in their
diet. Processed foods include white rice, white
bread, most breakfast cereals, crackers, and
pretzels.

As a result, constipation and hard stools are more
likely to occur – causing people to strain when
passing stools. This increases the pressure in the
colon or intestines and may cause these pouches to
form.

Symptoms of diverticulitis are more severe and
often start suddenly, but they may become worse
over a few days. They include:
•Tenderness, usually in the left lower
side of the abdomen
•Bloating or gas
•Fever and chills
•Nausea and vomiting
•Not feeling hungry and not eating

Although I later discovered that Mom had a few of
these symptoms she didn’t let anyone know until it
was too late and she was whisked off to the
hospital. They gave her a handful of antibiotics
and sent her home. She was told to take 2 in the
morning and one at night and although it helped
with the infection, the medicine killed off all
the friendly bacteria as well as the bad stuff.
She spent the next 10 days on the potty still suffering
with stomach pain and now has pain where the sun
doesn’t shine.

Now Mom doesn’t know what to eat and is afraid to
eat at all. I sent her acidophilus but of course
her doctor didn’t recommend it so she wouldn’t
touch it.
I didn’t know that I was going to be STRESSED. I
thought everything was going well on my end and it
was, but you never know when the universe will
throw you a spinner.
Thank God Mom is feeling better! We are not out of
the crisis yet but things are sure better.
When we are faced with stressful situations we
immediately go into flight or fight mode.
This affects two important systems:
1. The sympathetic nervous system
2. The adrenal-cortical system.

The next thing you know, your heart is pounding,
hormones are releasing that gets the body prepared
to deal with the situation to help you survive by
organizing you to either run for your life or
fight for your life.

In situations where the tiger is about to rip you
to threads this is a good thing. But when you are
just threatened by things like Family, Work, or
Money that’s the time to use the energy of the
stressful situation to transform the “Stress Into
Power” We are all confronted with stressful
situations daily and if you are not eating the
stress it’s eating you.

unrest.

Natural Face-lift to stay younger looking

Last week the South Florida SunTimes
wrote a one-page article about our office.
Feel Good and Feeling Good about Yourself
They wanted to know how alternative medicine
can help with woman problems, things like
Hormone balancing, headache, PMS, how to have a
safe natural pregnancy; avoid morning sickness
and the things that my woman patients
are always interested in
Getting those extra pounds off and
those age telling wrinkles gone.
If we can lose a few unwanted pounds and
get rid of those wrinkles, and peoples ears perk up.

Every day I get calls from people wanting to reduce
the signs of aging. Some are Baby Boomers from all
walks of life and others are from the modeling
community that live and work in Miami.

Nobody wants to go under the knife, especially to get
rid of a few wrinkles and have their fat sucked out.
Especially if they are still young and we all know that
fillers and Botox can be dangerous.
There is something
about the TOX at the end of Botox that
just does not sound good to me.

When you see a model, you might think that their beauty
is all natural and they are just blessed people.
The truth is, modeling is one of the most challenging
jobs there is and those young woman work hard to keep
everything toned natural and stay young and beautiful.
Not everyone can keep up with the demands and succeed
in this high-pressure profession.

Here are some of the secrets from one of
my students who is one of Miami’s top model

DIET
Staying healthy on the inside and outside
demands a healthy diet with No junk food.
Junk food blocks up your intestines, causing
plaque to form in the arteries and age you way
before your years. I give all of my patients the
80/20 diet. Eight percent of the time you eat
fruits and vegetables and lean protein. Green
drinks are a must to staying healthy on the
inside and they will reflect in your skin.
The 20% is for fun foods. A girl gotta have some fun.

Exercise
Exercise is the best- cardio, yoga and internal
exercises like Qi Gong. This way you cover all the bases.
You get a good sweat, stretch out and get a good
flow of Qi to your internal organs and brain.

Internal Work
Meditation will help to maintain a healthy
attitude towards yourself, establish a routine,
and stay on it. But don’t be too hard on yourself.
If you miss a day– just start again the next day.

Sleep
Sleep is the key to healing and rejuvenating
your body, mind and spirit. Go to sleep at least
3 nights a week before midnight. That will reset
your internal clock and keep you beautiful and your mind sharp.
That saying about “getting your beauty sleep is for real.

Skin fitness
To be a successful model, you need to maintain healthy skin.
The best way to do this is to keep a beauty routine.
No harsh products and chemicals. Always wash your skin
every night. Remove make-up completely.
If you need moisturizer, only use a small amount.
A natural moisturizer is the best.

Stay Hydrated
One of the easiest things you can do to help
maintain healthy-looking skin is to make a habit
of drinking at least 6 glasses of water a day and
to stay glowing, drink 3 or 4 glasses of fresh
vegetable juice a week or more.

I have been doing The face -Lift acupuncture treatment
on hundreds of men and woman and it’s a real boom to a
working model, both men and women who just want to stay young.

If it’s done once or twice a week with some incredible results.
Its natural, safe and drug free. This proven technique improves
muscle tone of the face and neck while addressing underline
imbalances that can contribute to the aging process.
According to Traditional Chinese medicine a blockage of Energy
in our bodies will affect our cells, tissue muscles and the
organs and the next thing you know, you have wrinkles.
As we get older it becomes a little more difficult for that
energy called Chi in Chinese medicine to flow upwards to lift
the face.

This leads to inadequate muscle tone, and over time,
wrinkles and sagging skin.
A facial rejuvenation using acupuncture tightens pores,
improves muscle tone and dermal contraction, while enhancing
and increasing the elasticity of the skin.
My patients have found the treatments to reduce signs of aging
by strengthening and stimulating the circulation of Qi within
the meridian pathways, especially those of the face.

You will look and feel more energetic, calm, vibrant and healthy.

One of the products that I really like that keep your
intestines healthy and keeps the skin young and healthy is:

Fiber 1-2-3

The Smart Way to Get Healthy and Stay Healthy

Everyday I get a slue of questions
from students and patients about acupuncture and
meridian systems. For the most part, most people
are OK with my explanation of the meridians, but when
I start talking about the triple warmer, I can see peoples
eyes roll. So it’s time that I try to unmask what the
mysterious Triple Warmer is all about.

In China it’s called the San Jiao and controls water ways of the body.
The triple warmer has a name but no form. They say the (TW) implies
fire and fire is necessary to control the water in the body.
It controls the water and water movement, thus balancing the
water and heat in the body.

The triple heater connects with all of the other meridians,
it is the over structure laying over all specific organ functions.

They call it the Triple burner because there are three different parts.
The upper burner is in the area of the Lungs and the heart.
It comes in like a mist or a fog and it spreads out and fills in
things, it is in charge of nourishing the flesh, bones and joints
and it regulates the pores.

The middle burner is the stomach, spleen and intestines.
It corresponds to foam and has a churning effect. It is said to
be the part that cooks the grains and filters down wastes and residues.

The lower burner corresponds to the Kidneys, Urinary bladder and the
liver and is said to be like a swamp. It is responsible for separating
the clear from the murky and evacuates the waste materials.

According to Donna Eden, it is our primal survival system, it fights
off illness in our bodies and is also known as our flight or fight response.
Unfortunately, it has not evolved along with the changes in our society.
Keeping the triple warmer balanced is especially important because many
aspects of our modern way of life are registered as invaders by our
triple warmer causing it to fight. You know your triple warmer is
overloaded if you can’t ever relax, even after meditation, or if you
generally feel anxious all the time.

Because triple warmer is a survival function it can pull energy away from
other systems leading to immune disorders, stress, chronic fatigue
and many other uncomfortable emotions/actions.

Although it’s a little known meridian, I use it every day balancing out
health problems in young and old.
