Are you in a Spiritual crisis?

Sam called me and seemed troubled. This isn’t
typical of him at all. He is a swimmer and is
usually in great shape! He is very active in the
community as a teacher and contributes both his
time and resources to help others. When I saw him
he said, “I am going through a spiritual crisis. I
feel that I am losing my spiritual roots, I don’t
feel like myself, I am losing my connection with
the work that I have devoted my life too.” Sam
works as a priest and helps whenever and where
ever he can. I was flattered that he came into see
me for some help.

I know what he’s going through. I had a few
spiritual crisis’ myself over the years. Sometimes
it comes from over work or stresses. You push too
hard or get tempted by the worldly things or the
flesh and before you know it you get lost on the
path resulting in a drying up of spiritual insight
and perception.
A Spiritual crisis can come from one of the follow
things:
-Not sharing emotional and spirit ual insights with
colleagues that work with you in the same field.
-Getting into a rut from performing repetitions in
your meditations. (Like doing the same practices
mechanically with no true spiritual energy behind
it).
-No divine hook-up. Working with others and
forgetting to connect to spirit. This will
definitely drain you.

-Worry, struggle and blame (the three poisons). If
you have a hidden agenda or you are too rushed it
will disturb your meditation, drain your power and
can cause spiritual burn out.

-Getting caught up in guilt, self-blame shame,
lack of gratitude all these can result in the loss
of spiritual vision.
One must connect to the divine, be open, honest to
receive and send.

When you’re involved in spiritual work no matter
if it’s with a group or your individual practice
there are rituals that can include a trance like
state, communications with your ancestors and
different deities, and even sacred drumming and
dance. I have found similar practices in the
Native American, The Tibetan Buddhists, and the
Taoists practices and even in the Jewish and
Christian practices. It’s never about the dogma or
the politics of the church when it comes to spirit
although some groups may want you to believe that
it just not true.
I have studied and personally worked with many
different groups over the years and if you can
follow the different practices of any spiritual
group it all seems to lead to the same place, A
Devine energy that opens you up and makes your
life better. Spirit is much more than a group of
people getting together to pray and do social
stuff.

Strengthen Your Creativity

Last week Miami was lit up with more than holiday lights.
The city was buzzing with artist, art collectors,
art dealers and art enthusiasts from all over the world
that came to Miami for “Art Basel” –
one of the major art events in the world and it was huge.

I spent days on the art trail seeing some of the most
creative pieces of work both new and old.
One thing I really noticed more than ever was people were
friendlier, more helpful and had a better attitude everywhere.

Happy times make for happy people,
and creativity can make you Happier.

We are all born with a great deal of creativity
but most people have it squashed, as they get older.
Interesting enough creativity is also our sexual energy
and according to Chinese medicine that’s what rules
the water element our (kidneys and bladder).

It’s true some people are more creative than others
and are born with a unique talent,
but if you want to nurture your talent there things you
can do to be more creative.
There is a technique in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
called mirroring and matching where you emulate
the person you want to be like.
This can be a big help in enhancing your creativity.

I have also used this technique in my spiritual work
following my Master in his habits like eating the same foods,
doing the same exercise and observing what he does.
There is a story of Guru that goes to the river to bathe
and do his morning prayers. He than then took some
rocks and piled them up and began his ritual.
Unbeknownst to the Master his students also piled up the rocks
and began their prayers and bathing rituals.
When the Guru got out of the river he asked the students,
“why they piled up rocks?” One student said,
“Because you did Master.” One brave student asked,
“Master why did you pile the rocks up?
Is it a special kind of blessing?”
The master said “I did it so when I get out of the river
I would know where my clothes are when I get out of the river”.

To be creative you need to ask a lot of questions.
First learn by observation then study
and embody what you have learned and then open up your creativity.

How can you enhance your creative ability?
Observe the habits of creative people,
identify the ones that you feel will work for you
and then make a plan to cultivate them.

1. Ask lots of questions. Keep asking what, why, when,
where and how.
This will keep your mind open and increase your child like
nature and your creativity.

2. Failure is not an option
Realize that the energy that creates great ideas,
also creates errors.
Know that failure is not really the opposite of success.
Both failure and success are on the same side of the spectrum.
You can actually fail yourself to success.

3. Value ideas of others and yourselves.
Write down your ideas whenever they occur no matter
if silly or impossible, you never know it may be workable

4. Embrace challenges.
Challenges bring the best out in us and
give us an opportunity to go beyond our own limitations.

5. Be full of enthusiasm.
This enthusiasm is the fuel for their journey;
the more excited you are about your project the more
creative you can be.

6. Don’t be satisfied with the normal.
Creative people are acutely aware of their
dissatisfactions with the way so called
normal and strive to improve on every situation.

7. Be persistent.
Never give up, it may take time and energy but as long
as you stay on purpose it will happen.
Sometimes I find the more creative the idea, the longer
it takes for it to be appreciated.

8. Be optimists.
Have the attitude that there is no problem that can’t be solved.

9. Become a problem-solvers
They are always looking for a solution to the problem they
will try this or that until the problem is solved.
They see a problem as an opportunity this stimulates the mind
and ones intercreativity.

Creativity and creative people can make a big impact
on you and our earth. Our mind needs to be stimulated
every day in as many different modalities as possible.

Study Qi Gong, learn the magic square, go dancing,
read a book on a new subject try different foods
and open up to all the creativity around you.

Give someone a different kind of present for the holidays
send them a copy of the Flying Crane Qi Gong

The Story of Fire

Friday, August 24th, 2012
Share

Once upon a time a man was contemplating the ways
in which nature operates and he discovered,
because of his concentration and application, how
fire could be made.

This man was called Nour.
He decided to travel from one community to
another, showing people his discovery.

Nour passed the secret to many groups of people.
Some took advantage of the knowledge. Others
drove him away, thinking that he must be
dangerous, before they had time to understand how
valuable the discovery could be to them. Finally
a tribe before which he demonstrated became so
panic stricken that they set about and killed him,
being convinced that he was a demon.

Centuries passed. The first tribe that had
learned about fire reserved the secret for their
priests, who remained in affluence and power while
the people froze.

The second tribe forgot the art and worshiped
instead the instruments. The third worshiped a
likeness of Nour himself, because it was he who
taught them.

The forth retained the story of the making of fire
in their legends; some believed them, some did
not.
The fifth community really did use fire, and this
enabled them to be warmed, to cook their food, and
to manufacture all kinds of useful articles.

After many, many years, a wise man and a small
band of his disciples were traveling through the
lands of these tribes. The disciples were amazed
at the variety of rituals which they encountered;
and one and all said to their teacher; ”But all of
these procedures are in fact related to the making
of fire, nothing else. We should reform these
people.”
The teacher said: “Very well then. We shall
restart or journey. By the end of it, those who
survive will know the real problems and how to
approach them.”

When they reached the first tribe, the band was
hospitably received. The priests invited the
travelers to attend their religious ceremony, the
making of fire. When it was over, and the tribe
was in a state of excitement at the event that
they had witnessed, the master said: “Does anyone
wish to speak?”
The first disciple said: “In the cause of Truth I
feel myself constrained to say something to these
people.”
“If you will do so at your own risk you may do
so,” said the master.
Now the disciple stepped forward in the presence
of the tribal chief and his priests and said: “I
can perform the miracle which you take to be a
special manifestation of deity. If I do so, will
you accept that you have been in error for so many
years?”
But the priests cried: “Seize him!” so the man
was taken away and was never seen again.

The travelers went to the next territory where the
second tribe was worshiping the instruments of
fire making. Again a disciple volunteered to try
to bring reason to the community.

With the permission of the master, he said: “I beg
permission to speak to you as reasonable people.
You are worshiping the means whereby something may
be done, not even the thing itself. Thus you are
suspending the advent of its usefulness. I know
the reality that lies at the basis of this
ceremony.”

This tribe was composed of more reasonable people.
But they said to the disciple: “You are welcome
as a traveler and a stranger in our midst. But,
as a stranger, foreign to our history and customs,
you cannot understand what we are doing. You make
a mistake. Perhaps, even, you are trying to take
away or alter our religion. We therefore decline
to listen to you.”

The travelers moved on. When they arrived in the
land of the third tribe, they found before every
dwelling an idol representing Nour, the original
fire-maker. The third disciple addressed the
chiefs of the tribe: “This idol represents a man,
who represents a capacity, which can be used.”

“That may be so,” answered the Nour worshipers,
“but the penetration of the real secret is only
for the few.”
“It is only for the few who will understand, not
for those who refuse to face certain facts” said
the third disciple.
“This is rank heresy, and from a man who does not
even speak our language correctly, and is not a
priest ordained in our faith.” muttered the
priests. And he could make no headway.

The band continued their journey, and arrived in
the land of the fourth tribe. Now a forth
disciple stepped forward in the assembly of the
people. “The story of making fire is true, and I
know how it may be done,” he said.

Confusion broke out within the tribe, which split
into various factions.
Some said: “This may be true, and if it is we
want to find out how to make fire.”

When these people was examined by the master and
his followers, however, it was found that most of
them were anxious to use fire-making for personal
advantage, and did not realize that it was
something for human progress. So deep had the
distorted legends penetrated into the minds of
most people that those who thought they might in
fact represent truth were often unbalanced ones
who could not have made fire, even if they had
been shown how.
There was another faction, who said: “Of course
the legends are not true. This man is just trying
to fool us, to make a place for himself here.”

And a further faction said: “We prefer the
legends as they are, for they are the very mortar
of our cohesion. If we abandon them, and we find
that this new interpretation is useless, what will
become of our community then?”

And there were other points of view as well.

So the party traveled on until they reached the
lands of the fifth community, where fire making
was a commonplace, and where other preoccupations
faced them.
The master said to his disciples:
“You have to learn how to teach, for man does not
want to be taught. First of all, you will have to
teach people how to learn. And before that you
will have to teach them that there is still
something to be learned. They imagine that they
are ready to learn. But they want to learn what
they imagine to be learned, not what they have
first to learn. When you have learned all this
then you can devise the way to teach. Knowledge
without special capacity to teach is not the same
as knowledge and capacity.”

Learning to learn takes special skills and a
certin openness. The Lama on the Mountain often
talked about the six willingness’s of learning to
learn:

1. Willingness to Learn
2. Willingness to Change
3. Willingness to Ask
4. Willingness to Listen
5. Willingness to Act
6. Willingness to Reflect on the Results of
Action

As we open and ask inside to learn the lessons
that we need to learn in this life time the
universe will support you.

The key is in the asking.
The different stories that I share with you are
all about learning, opening and discovering more
about yourself.

When I first started practicing Qi Gong I
discovered a new way of learning.

My body first learned the movements, then my mind
opened to new possibilities and then the true
magic happened! My spirit or soul began to change.

Life became easier; things that bothered me in the
past seemed to vanish. My stresses disappeared and
I was different person. Stronger, softer in
nature, more flexible in body and mind and what
happened? Spirit opened.

The reason I practice and encourage you to
practice is I know that if you do you will without
a doubt open and your life will keep getting
better. Start with the Recharging Qi Gong

Creating Your Own Power Animals

Friday, July 6th, 2012
Share

The Chinese Taoist’s have
formulas for just about everything,
diet, exercise, meditations, and how
to live your life better.
One of the very special formulas
that are taught uses the power of
visualization and involves 4 animals used as protectors.

1. The dragon
2. The Phoenix sometimes called a Firebird
3. A white Tiger
4. Turtle

Each animal represents
a direction, a color, and the human
organ and does a special job that
carries out a special protective quality.

Although this may sound like a child’s
play, to the westerner these teachings go
back thousand of years and have significant value.
Mythology and creative visualization is
now being used in modern medicine and
psychiatric care. One of my friends is a psychiatrist
in Kentucky and is in his private life is a Mayan Shaman.
One may think that is unusual but another Medical
doctor that I know right here in Florida is a practicing
Shaman from another tradition.

When they aren’t practicing medicine they are
involved in high leave shaman practices and rituals.
A doctor is a teacher — or should be one, in order to
teach his patients ways to heal themselves on a physical,
mental and spiritual leave. We are all three bodies
operating as one and in order to be healthy all three
bodies must function in harmony.

This morning I was training with one of
my students and we saw someone walking their dog.
The dog was a bulldog and I pointed out that one
of my protectors was a bulldog.
The student said how could that be?
“I thought you said that there where only
four protectors and there wasn’t any mention of a dog.”

Our protectors can change and morph
into other beings and creatures.
My dragon protector who lives on my left
side represents a few things.
My liver for one, the emotions of anger
and kindness, the color green, getting things
started and completed quickly.

Over the years my dragon has changed shapes,
has a name and the relationship is stronger.
Why? Because I have placed more attention into
the visualization and have worked with the
protector in my meditations.
Remember, the more you work with
something the stronger it becomes.

Here’s how the morphing happened to my dragon.
One of my friends had a 150-pound dog that
was a great protector. But he was overprotective
and would go crazy if anyone came into the house
that he didn’t know and if you took him for a walk
and he saw another dog he would try to rip him apart.
His master had no idea how to train a dog or anything
else for that matter. His form of training was only to
control and try to dominate. Dogs are intuitive in nature
and they pick up on vibrations and intensions of other
animals and people as well. So the dog became just like
his master, overly aggressive and tried to control
everything and everyone.
Not a good way to live ones life,
if you want to stay around for a while.

I had a great relationship with the dog since it was a pup.
I played with it and the dog picked up on my vibes.
One day the master and the dog had it out — the
dog bit him and the dog was scheduled to be put down
the next day. When they told me what was going to happen,
I asked if I could take him for a walk.
The family agreed and I told the pooch that
he would always be with me as one of my
protectors and not to worry.

To this day the dog has been with me.
He morphed into a dragon dog.
This may sound a little strange to you but if you
have a favorite pet, or a creature that you have
infinity with, you can incorporate it into your
personal mythology as I did.

You may want to learn more about your
own mythology, how to use visualization and
learn to work with the protectors.
