knowing when to act and when not to act=

It was less than a week ago when I received
this letter from a friend and mentor.
Here is what he said.
“All I want to do when I’m finished is stare at
The walls or look out the windows. Not moving.
Not doing anything.
Just looking, taking it in … and breathing.
Sit and stare straight ahead for long periods
of time …
Just sitting. Looking straight ahead.Breathing.
Doing nothing.”

It may sound like he is depressed, on drugs or
just spaced out,
But he is actually in a very high meditative
place of being. The Taoists call that state
of aware “Wu Wei”

“An action that does not involve struggle or
excessive effort”.
The concept of “effortless action” like
Qi Gong and the Internal Martial Arts.

“Wu” can be translated as without.
A better way to think of it is as a paradoxical

“The Action of non-action.”

Non doing is “what we mean by going with the
grain,rolling with the punch…”
– Alan Watts, The Watercourse Way

In China I was given the name of “Wu Di”
but when I returned to the homeland,
my spiritual master changed it from Di to Dhi.

Dr.Wu Dhi literally means,

“One who has no Enemies.”

The word “Dhi” is taken from the mantra (prayer)
to the deity that Manjushri, the Buddhist god who
stands for wisdom and knowledge, for the most
part the knowledge of linguistics and grammar.

God knows I need that.

Wu Wei means “Without action, action without action,

Effortless doing”.

The aim of Wu Wei is to achieve a state of perfect
equilibrium,or alignment with the Tao and,
as a result, obtain an irresistible form of
“soft and invisible” power.

One way to accomplish this state is to practice
the internal exercises like, Qi Gong, Nei Gong
and Shen Gong.

Students that come to me seek that stillness of
mind and internal power.

The Recharging Qi Gong Program.

builds the foundations to achieve the state of “Wu Wei”,
like getting the whole puzzle in a big box and

all the pieces fit together.

Now is the time to know, knowing when to act

minds and spirit.

Grabbing the Qi Could be Costley

The Yin Yang garden at Long Hu Shang

The Yin Yang garden at Long Hu Shang

I don’t watch much TV, but last Sunday night
I was at a friend’s house and we were watching
the MTV Video Music Awards. There are some
really talented artists and the dancing was
incredible.

But there are unscrupulous people who will do
anything to steal someone else’s glory.

As 19-year-old Taylor Swift was accepting
an award for best female video,
Kanye West, a rap and hip-hop star rushed
the stage, grabbed the mike from the stunned
singer, and made himself look like a
complete idiot.

The audience booed, and poor Taylor Swift
looked shocked,as Kanye West was escorted
out by security.

Taylor Swift took it with grace, but you
could tell she was upset.

From a Qi perspective, I look at it this way.
In the short run, Kanye West stole the thunder
from the 19 year old. He was able to grab
the Qi and the
booing from the audience even gave him more
energy.

In martial arts this would be considered a
yang move.

These are the qualities of both yin and yang.
Yang:
• Motion
• Function
• Male
• Heaven
• Spring/Summer
• Hot/Dry
• Quick

Yin:
• Female
• Cold
• Earth
• Dark
• Small
• Weak
• Autumn/Winter

Yin and yang are opposite in nature, but they
are part of nature. They rely on each other,
and they can’t exist without each other.

The balance of yin and yang is important.
If yin is stronger, yang will be weaker,
and vice versa.

Kanye West may be in for a big surprise
when the opposite
polarity boomerangs and hits him right in
the mouth for trying to steal the energy of
the yin nature. Or it may hit him in his pocket
book meridian and that really hurts.

One of the most powerful tools we have is our
power of speech, but it is a double-edged sword.
The rap singer may be singing the blues.

Guard your speech; enrich your mind;
and train your body.

I wish you the Best in your Health Wealth
and Happiness

Dr. Wu Dhi

P.S. We’re about to move into a new season.
It’s the time to cleanse our body, speech
and mind and begin a new training cycle.
This is the focus of the fall training
and the perfect time to take advantage
of the teachings offered in the Qi Gong Inner Circle.

How Boys Become Men

Sunday night I had plans to
drive back to Miami from Tampa and then I got a big surprise. Prior to my
surprise, it had been a relaxing, and productive, weekend. That doesn’t occur
all that often in the world of Dr. Wu.

I stayed with my nephew near
Tampa, and worked out early on Saturday. Then we went to his kids soccer game
and we won! After that we went for breakfast, and then it was back to work on
some new products I am working on, which will be ready in the new year.

Sunday my plans were to work
a little, have some fun, and hit the road around 3 in the afternoon. This would
put me back in Miami around 9 with a stop for chow.

Well things didn’t turn out
exactly the way I planned. We were working on one of my projects and the next
thing you know it was 6. I packed up, said my goodbyes, and was getting in my
car when I got that big surprise.

My nephews 14 year old son
was skateboarding with friends and he decided to try and be cool. He was boarding on the street and
decided to hang on to the bumper of a friends car. This worked real well and
he gathered up a good head of steam, and he was even cocky enough to wave to
friends.

Then he hit a pot hole. As
you might imaginethe pothole won that battle, and he went tumbling ass over
appetite, as somebody used to say. He got to his feet, but he was banged up and
bloody.

His dad was screaming, What
were you thinking? as he packed him into the car.

14 year old boys don’t do a
lot of thinking. They live in the moment, and

the moment promised speed and
daredevil thrills, which is what being 14 is all about. He didn’t start
thinking until after his young ass hit the pavement hard.

I was exactly the same way.

I remember my Dad telling my
Mom, Boys will be boys.

I told my nephew he would be
okay.

They headed to the hospital
for X-rays and treatment. I stayed with the younger ones. They returned home
about 4 AM, and everything turned out okay. He had scrapes, cuts, and bruises,
including his ego.

I have a lot of patients who
have teenagers, and they ask me all the time,

What am I going to do? That
kid is driving me to an early grave.

I come from a family of all
boys, and both my children are boys, so I’ve been through the wringer myself.

My old man was a smart cookie
when it came to keeping us in line. He put me in martial arts classes when I
was 12, and not only did I get to burn a large amount of energy, but I
developed the discipline to train every day.

 This type of training started
paying big dividends for me a couple of decades later. The disciplines I
started as a youngster built up my internal channels to bring in a kind of
super energy.

The programs I have designed
for you do exactly that. They bring more energy to you and make you feel
extremely alive. In my Qigong Inner Circle, you get a new teaching every month
to help you ratchet up your internal energy.

Every month I send you a DVD
with the new teaching. Some of them are short, lasting thirty minutes, and some
may go as long as two hours.

These teaching can change
your life.

Take the time right now to
become an Inner Circle member today.

Don’t wait.

Don’t hesitate.

Give yourself a Thanksgiving
present you wont ever forget.

happiness,

How To Get An Edge In The Market

I was up early this morning because I had a special training at the beach with one of my students. This guy has been with me for quite a while and we had a long workout consisting of powerexercises and internal work. Time flies when you're having fun,and before you know it two and a half hours were gone.

As you might imagine both of us were pretty hungry after that, and we went to get some breakfast. During breakfast, we talked about his business, something that we rarely do. Evan has been trading stocks for the past twenty five years, and he has beenpretty successful. He has an intuitive sense of when to buy andsell that has served him well.

I asked him what the key to his success was, and he started singing that old Kenny Rogers tune, The Gambler. You know howit goes:

You got to know when to hold 'em

And know when to fold 'em

Know when to walk away

And know how to run...

He is still making money in a very tough market. Most of his colleagues are either down or out. One of the skills he said helps is programming his internal computer, and he gave me credit for what I had taught him.

He went on to say that his Recharging Qigong training gives him an extra special edge in the marketplace. His said that most of his colleagues do train, but their training is superficial. They look good, but they really aren't strong or flexible, and they lack any sort of mental discipline, or internal power.

This is very true. My Recharging Qigong program opens up the Three Treasures...Jing, Qi, and Shen.

Most martial arts programs only deal with Jing, and so evengood fighters have no idea about internal powers andspirituality, much less your typical gym rat.

One of the big things these folks are missing out on is the Law of Accumulation. Every time you do a Recharging Qigong workoutit adds benefits to the work you did before.

http://www.rechargingqigong.com

In six short weeks you'll be able to feel the Qi cour singt hrough your body and rejuvenating your entire system. You'llbecome more sensitive, clear blocks to your psychic intuition, ratchet up your internal powers, and open up your spiritualgates. It ain't just an exercise!

But it won't happen until you get started, so go ahead andorder my Recharging Qigong course now.

A Super Bowl Life

Just last weekend I was in Tampa Florida with friends at my
first ever professional football game. We were about five rows
from the field. I could actually call out to the players if I
wanted to and they would have heard me.

As far a raw power goes some of these players have it in
spades. The amount of energy that these players put out when
charging the line or tackling is impressive when you see it up
close.

The only thing I could compare it to is some of the great
martial artists I have studied with. It’s true. These guys hit
so hard it will make you jump out of your seat.

When you imagine one of these guys in normal clothing they are
just a bigger than average Joe. Some of these guys you might
even put on a diet if you didn’t know better but get them on
the field and man can they perform.

For big guys they can really run and they keep it going through
the whole game no problem.

As far as conditioning goes American Football is keeping them
in top notch shape but I wouldn’t call football a longevity
practice.

Watch any number of football games and you’re going to see
these incredibly fit individuals being carried off the field by
guys that don’t work out nearly has hard and if I had to place
a bet on who would live longer I’d bet on the guy doing the
carrying.

There’s an important distinction to make here between the
Martial Arts and the Modern day warrior of the gridiron.

In the NFL we are only thinking about making it to the Super
Bowl. Every day of the season is dedicated to that goal. So you
play hard and hold nothing back. All conditioning is focused on
performance and if you have an injury you try to treat it in a
way so that it will perform again soon, not necessarily heal.

The Super Bowl in real life is a target much farther down the
road and we want to reach it in perfect health. That type of
goal takes a different kind of conditioning inside and out.

Qi Gong is conditioning that starts from the inside out.

By focusing the breathing the mind is calmed and the blood and
oxygen is moved through the body and healing happens at a
cellular level.

The movements of Qi Gong can be fast or slow but they will
never take you in a direction that is directly apposed to the
design of the skeleton. Tendons and muscles get stretched for
elastic power in a wide range of movement.

Qi Gong acts like a pump bringing vital energy from the core of
your being out through the meridians and energy channels into
the rest of the body.

Qi Gong leaves you with a warm hum running through your body
and a feeling of being recharged.

Not all Qi Gong is the same. Some schools have you doing
extensive standing practices where you are nearly motionless
for hours before starting any of the movements. This is a
mistake.

My training is more alone the lines of Medical Qi Gong. I get
you moving right away and once all the juice is flowing then I
can instruct you on moving the internal energy.

Only the internal energy will fuel you all the way to the real
life Super Bowl.

Only internal energy will transform the daily stress into a
feeling of being recharged.

Only internal energy will heal your body from the inside out
starting with your internal organs.

Now is the time to start learning how to FEEL and cultivate
this energy I am talking about. Not everybody finds there way
to real internal energy and power but I have created more than
a trail of breadcrumbs to follow for those that are willing to
learn.

I have compiled 36 of the easiest and most powerful exercises I
have acquired on my life long quest and made them available to
you.

There is no other program like it. I encourage you to make an
investment in yourself and discover the vast amount of energy
and power that is waiting for you.

waiting in you and your future.

Wishing you the best in Health,

Alert Stillness

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007
Share

Last night I came home after sundown and the whole house was completely dark. Instead of turning on the lights I lit a candle. I never do this sort of thing but the house seemed so quiet and peaceful I wanted to just sit.

I spent the majority of the night in contemplative meditation.

We are in the Winter Solstice and it is an excellent time to take time to be quiet and reflect on the past year.

I recommend doing this for yourself as a matter of personal care.

With all the crazy energy around the holidays and year-end you want to make sure that you cool-out and recollect yourself before you burn-out.

Once you do I think you will find that the rush of the holidays and year-end quiets down and you can refocus on those things that are most important.

In Chinese medicine Winter is associated with the element Water.

Water energy has the attributes of:

  • Cold
  • Damp
  • Quiet
  • Stillness
  • Calmness
  • Smoothness
  • Listening
  • The Kidney organ and meridian

This energy is available in the atmosphere throughout the winter. Just slow down, sit quietly in a natural place and pull in the atmosphere.

Winter Water energy is also associated with a special type of Awareness that, from Chinese to English, best translates as Alert Stillness.

In the Chinese Medicine system we use animal associations to signify these types of energy, and as such, the animal for the water element and organ of the Kidney is the Deer.

250px-Red_deer.jpg

The Deer is chosen because it is a master of Alert Stillness.

When you think of a deer you think of an animal that is impossible to sneak up on. The slightest snap of a twig and the thing has disappeared.

This is not the same type of power of a Tiger or a Dragon but it is a type of power that completes us.

In the Ba Gua system of Martial Arts it takes a whole circle of animals to become a Master.

We cannot always Push, Push, Push, sometimes we need to sit, take inventory, and listen to the atmosphere. This is the power in the symbol of the deer and that is the power of this time of year.

So take advantage of this time of solstice when this energy is most powerful and abundant, you will not be able to tap into this energy so easily in other seasons.

Winter, not just the New Year, is the best time to set new plans and goals into action.

Take inventory of what is happening around you.

Upon deep consideration you may see more then before.

Clarity is not achieved when you are rushing or being hasty.

Opening is found in reflection.

Wishing you the best in Health, Wealth and Happiness,

Dr. Wu Dhi
