Labor Day

Its Labor Day and the last days of summer are here
and gone; we are about to move into Indian summer.

In Chinese medicine, they say it’s the time for
the earth element. It affects mostly the stomach
and the spleen. The negative emotion would be
worry; the positive emotion would be nurturing,
balance and cultivation. This is the time of the
year to start putting more root crops in your diet
like beets, squashes, and getting those soup
recipes out! We want to start feeding the earth
element at this time. If we strengthen the earth
element we can avoid colds, flues, coughs, as well
as avoid anxiety and keep ourselves strong and
healthy this entire fall.

1.)Wash you hands as often as possible

2.)Put a quarter of a cup of vinegar in a pan and
put it on the stove and let it boil. Although your
house will smell like vinegar, it will eliminate
many of the germs, and keep you healthy

3.)Walk everyday and get plenty of fresh air. Not
only will this build the lungs, but you can throw
off any viruses

4.)Make sure you keep your neck covered. Wind
cold invasion is when a cold breeze chills the
body and the next thing you know; you have a sore
throat or a cold. Keeping the neck covered will
help you avoid neck pain, colds, and sore throats

5.)This is a great time of the year to detoxify
the body. Clear out all the excess junk we ate all
summer

This is the time of the year when we start putting
away the tools in the yard and harvesting things
from the garden, a quieting time before the long
winter. It’s a time to go more internal in your
body, mind, and soul. It’s a great time to set
your goals. I’m having all of my students and the
patients that come into the office use the One
through Nine goal setting program that is part of
the Bagua. If you are not familiar with this, pick
up a copy of the Magic Square workshop and I will
send you the two DVDs and all the notes.

I wish you the best in your Health, Wealth, and
Happiness,

Chinese Healing Technique

images-2Saturday morning I drove to Fort Lauderdale,
Florida which is about an hour from my house to
learn the “Ba Gui Fa” system of healing and pick
up some CEU’s for my acupuncture license.

Although the first part of the day was all theory
it laid the foundation for practice and
application.

After lunch is when the fun started. We used a
combination of cupping and Gua Sha to relieve pain
and correct imbalances and clear the facial
tissue.

Although the cupping and Gua Sha (scraping of the
skin) shows up as redness and temporary marks,
they dissipate within a few days and for the most
part take care of the pain and stagnation action
in the muscle. If you look at someone’s back after
treatment you would think they got in a fight or
had road rush up and down their back. A few years
ago I worked on 2 children to clear up a lingering
cough. When they went back to school the teacher
called childhood services because she thought
there was some abusiveness going on at home.

When I was in China you would see people walking
with red round marks and red spots all over their
bodies. The treatments usually removes blood
stagnation considered pathogenic, promoting normal
circulation and metabolic processes. The patient
experiences immediate relief from pain, stiffness,
fever, chill, cough, nausea and so on. Gua Sha is
valuable in the prevention and treatment of acute
infectious illness, upper respiratory and
digestive problems, and many other acute or
chronic disorders.

I have been doing both cupping and Gua Sha in my
office for the last 20 years with great success.
When I was studying with Jerry Alan Johnson he
showed us how to combine the treatment with
medical Qi Gong and now I have discovered how
effective it is with Gua Sha as well.

I use it to clear up stubborn coughs, colds, pain,
and asthma. It even works well for knee pain, sore
shoulders and neck pain as well as stomach
problems. Treatments like this have no side
effects and work like magic to clear up stubborn
problems in no time at all.
Once the problem is resolved I teach the person
how to keep the Qi and blood flowing so the
problem doesn’t return. I always know if the
person is practicing or not by the amount of
treatments they need. If I am working on them and
the patients isn’t the healing process takes twice
as long.

I wish you the best in your Health, Wealth and
Happiness

Everything was going just find today, I walked down to the beach before
daybreak to start my meditation and trained. It was around 6: O’clock and
everything was beautiful quite and still.

I practiced for a little over an hour and then headed to breakfast.
Now that’s a great way to start your day. By 8:00 am
I was home showered, dressed, relaxed and ready to start my day.

I got to the office and that’s when the she -it hit the fan.
Anastasia is in her last days of school.
In fact this Saturday she graduates from Miami-Dade Honor collage
and Top of Her Class.

Congratulations!

Little did I know that I was totally booked with patient,
appointments and everyone had an emergency of some sort
or another.

I even had a few new people walk in at the end of the day in major
neck pain going on, I guess when your busy you just get busier.

Around the busiest time of the day Anastasia received a call
from her classmate and much to her surprise and mind she was
told that they had switched her meeting from Saturday to today
and she had to go to school to finish her last project.
I was really not too happy that she was leaving last minute in the middle
of the workday.

But sometimes in life these unexpected things happen and
you just have to handle them like it or not.

Now if I didn’t start my day with the calm relaxing meditation
and training. I could have really stressed myself out and been
the one with the sore neck.

The morning training and meditation are one of the best ways to
protect you from STRESS.
