Gardening Coincidence

A few days a week, I like to make videos and let you know what’s happening.

Yesterday, my assistant, Carolina, and I decided to take a walk around the office neighborhood. We walked for about three blocks when we noticed an animal preserve. As we got closer, we also noticed it was a yoga meditation center.

While we were looking at the sign, the woman that lived there approached us and invited us in. The meditation center is surrounded by a beautiful garden. She had five or six different varieties of mango trees, a wide variety of bananas, a noni tree, asparagus and few different types of fruit I’d never seen before.

While there, she gave me a solution to keep iguanas out of the garden. She used to see about six big iguanas on her property every day, plus smaller lizards. I asked her what she does to keep them away. I always thought iguanas were carnivorous, but they’re actually omnivorous. And they love eating my organic garden: my mangos, my bananas, my kale… or at least I thought they were mine. They’re actually OURS! The iguana and I share everything whether I like it or not.

In fact, I also share with the raccoons, the possums and the birds. She suggested getting a pussy cat. Her cat scares away all the predators. She never sees iguanas or lizards anymore. I like cats, but I don’t want them in my house. They make my eyes itch.

It’s always a surprise when we run into a situation that is so familiar to ours. The gentleman who runs the meditation center is a doctor. He teaches meditation, and right down the street, he has a beautiful garden, just like I do.

This is the time of year when I plant my feng shui garden. Just like the magic square program, I divide the garden up into nine squares. I then plant one different fruit or vegetable in each square. I always watch to see what veggie is growing the best and which ones need more fertilizer, water or sunshine. The arugula in the lower left corner is doing really well, and so is the kale in the fourth square. Not only am I cultivating food, it gives me an indication of the feng shui of my entire garden and house.

Low and behold, the doctor at the meditation center also sets up his garden according to feng shui principles! It could be coincidence, or it could be that like attracts like. We run into people and situations that enhance our growth spiritually. We just have to pay attention.

If you’re hanging out with drinkers and smokers, chances are you’ll be doing the same things. But if you hang out with people who eat well, exercise and are conscious, you are likely to bring that into your life too.
