Full Moon Magic

I have a good friend in California who has been practicing astrology for decades. We were talking about this coming full moon on October 24 while Venus, the planet of love and money, is in retrograde. She said letting go of things, whether you want to or not, seems to be the theme of this full moon that’s in Taurus.

Full moons typically signify the conclusion of a phase. It’s a particularly good time to let go of someone or something that no longer serves the higher purpose of your growth.

Money and finances are another area that may be affected. We may feel a bit insecure until retrograde passes. Don’t just stick your head in the ground like an ostrich and wait until it’s over. Now is the time for new beginnings, change and excitement.

Just in time for Halloween.

There is chance of a new romance that could be exciting, surprising and maybe just a little kinky. These relationships are usually a lot of fun, and maybe even a little scary.

Speaking of scary, Halloween is a holiday that originated a long time before Christians came on the scene. They called it the Samhain and it was observed on October 31. The souls of the dead were supposed to revisit their homes on this day and the autumnal festival acquired creepy significance with ghosts, witches, goblins, black cats and demons.

It was a time to appease the supernatural powers controlling the processes of nature, a favorable time for divinations concerning marriage, luck, health and death.

We still practice some of these traditions today, such as pumpkin carving. There is a legend of “Irish Jack” that explains the jack-o’-lantern. According to the legend, a stingy drunk named Jack tricked the devil into climbing an apple tree for an apple, but then cut the sign of a cross into the trunk of the tree to prevent the devil from coming down. Jack then forced the devil to swear he would never come after Jack’s soul. The devil reluctantly agreed.

People believed that ghosts and spirits roamed after dark on Halloween. They lit candles or lanterns to keep the spirits away, and if they had to go outside, they wore costumes and masks to frighten the spirits or to keep from being recognized by these spirits.

If the spirits didn’t think that they were respected properly in ritual form, they would seek revenge upon the people of the village. This was therefore a day of fear with ghosts and witches roaming about.

Have a Happy Halloween! Be safe and keep on practicing.

I wish you the best in your Health, Wealth and Happiness.
