The key to Good Health is your Immune System.

If you are abusive to your body on purpose; your health can fail Quicker than anyone would desire!

To have a quality life, the focus should be keeping your Immune System in good shape.

Most of us have heard the quote, “Let Thy Food Be Thy Medicine and Thy Medicine Be Thy Food.” Often ascribed to Hippocrates (400 BC) and used to emphasize the importance of nutrition, to prevent or cure disease.

Although there are many factors in staying healthy, what we eat will determined our overall health picture. The quality of your life, and your longevity.

Here is a List of Foods that will Enhance your Immune System and Health.

Citrus Fruits.

Vitamin C is thought to increase the production of white blood cells, which are key to fighting infections.
All citrus fruits are high in vitamin C. Your body doesn’t produce or store vitamin  C, so you need daily vitamin C intake.

75 mg for Women

90 mg for Men

Vitamin C may help you recover from a cold quicker; however, there’s no evidence yet that it’s effective against the new coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, but I boost my system with lots of C daily!

Another good source of Vitamin C for those who aren’t into citrus, is Red Bell peppers.
Ounce for ounce, red bell peppers contain almost 3 times as much vitamin C!

Broccoli
is supercharged with vitamins and minerals. Packed with vitamins A, C, and E, as well as fiber and many other antioxidants, broccoli is one of the healthiest vegetables you can put on your plate. Please purchase Organic if you can!

Garlic is great at fighting infections and may also slow down hardening of the arteries, plus it helps lower blood pressure.

Ginger helps decrease inflammation, which can help reduce a sore throat and inflammatory illnesses. Every once in a while, we get some nausea or tummy ache, Ginger will help with that.

Spinach
Is rich in vitamin C, antioxidants and beta carotene, which increase the infection-fighting ability of our Immune Systems, and it was Popeyes secret power fuel.

Almonds
Help to fight off colds, filled with  vitamin E as well as a powerful antioxidant, is one of the keys to a healthy Immune System.

Sunflower seeds
Sunflower seeds are full of nutrients, including phosphorousmagnesium, and vitamins B-6 and E.
Sunflower Seeds are also incredibly high in selenium.

Turmeric
This bright yellow, bitter spice has also been used for years as an anti-inflammatory in treating both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis

Green tea
Both green and black teas are packed with flavonoids, a type of antioxidant. Where green tea really excels is in it’s levels of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), another powerful antioxidant. Green tea is also a good source of the amino acid L-theanine. L-theanine may aid in the production of germ-fighting compounds in your T cells.

Papayas.

I love them, I grow them, I eat them; and they are sweet and delish!
Loaded with vitamin C. Papayas also have a digestive enzyme called papain, that has anti-inflammatory effects.
Papayas have decent amounts of potassium, magnesium, and folate, all of which are beneficial to your overall health.

Kiwi
Like papayas, kiwis are naturally full of a ton of essential nutrients, including folate, potassium, vitamin K, and vitamin C.

Poultry.

We all have heard that Chicken soup is Jewish penicillin. When you’re sick, reach for chicken soup! It’s more than just the placebo effect that makes you feel better. The soup lowers inflammation, which improve symptoms of a cold.
Poultry, such as chicken and turkey, is high in vitamin B-6.

Stock or broth made by boiling chicken bones contains gelatin, chondroitin, and other nutrients helpful for gut healing and immunity.

Aside from good food, it’s important to Get enough sleep.

Sleep and immunity are closely tied.
Getting adequate rest will strengthen your natural immunity. If you can get to sleep before midnight, on the week days, your Immune System will thrive. If you are ill sleep more for restoration. Most adults should get at least 7 hours of sleep, per night.

Healthy Fats like those found in olive oil and salmon, can boost your body’s immune response to pathogens by decreasing inflammation.

It’s also known that eating Fermented foods which are rich in beneficial bacteria called probiotics, help to populate your digestive tract.
These foods include yogurt, sauerkraut, kimchi and kefir.

As far as Exercise like Qi Gong, Yoga and Walking; put minimum stress on the body and work Meridians, Chakras as well as Muscles, Ligaments and Tendons. Moderate exercise will reduce inflammation and promote the healthy turnover of immune cells. I also like biking, swimming and hiking the great outdoors.

This is a real important one!

Stay hydrated. First thing in the morning drink a cup of hot water and follow it up with a glass of room temp water.
Preventing dehydration is important to your overall health. If you don’t have enough water keeping your kidneys flowing it will affect your heart. The entire balance of Yin Water and Yang Fire need to be balanced.

Dehydration can cause headaches and hinder your physical performance, focus, mood, digestion, heart and kidney function. These complications can increase your susceptibility to illness.

There are so many things you can do to keep your Immune System Strong and keep your body healthy. The more effort you put into yourself the healthier you’ll get.
