What’s The Difference Between Qi Gong Exercises & MQG

When I tell people that I practice Both Medical Qi Gong and Qi Gong, they ask, “What’s the difference?”

I have been doing Flying Crane Style Qi Gong for the last (30) years, and Recharging Qi gong to build my energy, keep me healthy, flexible and to retard the aging process.

Qi Gong is an Internal process that has external movements. Qi means “Life force.” It’s the energy that powers our body and spirit! The term Gong means to work or gather. Qi Gong, together means a form of Mindful Movement using intention and awareness to guide Qi, to make it work!

Qi is the type of energy that makes persons feel alive to experience heightened emotions. Traditional Qi Gong Theory says, “We can focus on a feeling, emotion, part of the body, concept or goal; and that Qi goes where our mind sends it!”

Back in 2006 Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson was teaching Medical Qi Gong in Miami, at the Five-Element Acupuncture School. I heard from one of my Masters, that he was the real deal, so I joined his Medical Qi Gong class and studied with him in Florida, California and China.

In 2007 I received my doctoral in Medical Qi Gong, from Henan University in China.
Medical Qigong is an ancient form of Chinese energetic medicine, and is one of the Four main branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine. (TCM).

Healing occurs through balancing Qi or electromagnetic energy; which surrounds and pervades all living creatures. Disruptions in the electromagnetic energy of the body occurs throughout our lifetime as a result of poor diet, sedentary lifestyle, injuries, surgery, suppression of emotions and aging.

The goal of Qi Gong is to correct these bio-energetic imbalances and blockages. This enables the body to strengthen and regulate the internal organs, the nervous and immune system. It relieves pain, regulate hormones, strengthen and releases deep-seated emotions and stress.

A Medical Qi Gong Treatment regulate’s patient’s Qi. After the treatment the patient will be given Qi Gong prescriptions, to assist in their on-going healing. Tailored specifically to the patient’s needs, ability and physical condition; to restore health and wellbeing.

Medical qigong is a complete system of health care that recognizes the root causes of symptoms or disease. Practiced as an excellent adjunct to Western Medicine, Chinese Medicine may successfully treat people with conditions which Western Medicine finds resistant or ambiguous.

In China; and more recently in the United States, doctors have applied Qi Gong in hospitals and clinics to treat individuals, suffering from a variety of ailments. Medical Gi Gong Therapy and prescriptions can be used to treat people with cancer and help reduce or eliminate side effects from radiation and chemotherapy.

It will help in treating cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson disease and post-stroke syndrome. It is especially useful in treating any kind of chronic pain, and chronic disorders of the digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular and nervous systems.
