Summer is Over, Get Ready, Labor Day is here

What Labor Day anyway? To most of us it’s the day
that we have to start getting serious again with
work, school and added responsibilities, winter is
coming soon
For most people, Labor Day means two things: a day
off and a chance to say goodbye to the summer. But
why is it called Labor Day? Labor Day is a day set
aside to pay tribute to workingmen and women. It
has been celebrated as a national holiday in the
United States since 1894.
“Labor Day differs in every essential way from the
other holidays of the year in any country,. All
other holidays are in a more or less degree
connected with conflicts, wars and battles of
man’s prowess over man, of strife and discord for
greed and power, of glories achieved by one nation
over another. Labor Day…is devoted to no man,
living or dead, to no sect, race, or nation.” It’s
about and for the workingman.
When I was heavily engaged in doing spiritual work
as I am, my teacher always emphasized the WORK
part of spiritual work. I can remember him
saying,” The reward for good work was more work.
If you are on a spiritual path and studying,
training and practicing daily you know how much
work it is, but if you want to move yourself past
your limitations you have to work at it all the
time. (Don’t ever stop, it will pay off).
I have been in retreats that have lasted for weeks
on end and they are somewhat exhausting. My knees
hurt, my back hurt, the food gave me gas in fact
every part of my body ached. At times I wanted to
run out of the retreat and get drunk and eat dead
cows and smoke a joint. But I stuck it out and
that was WORK. Spiritual work. I have spent many
years in the study and practice of waking up form
the delusion that we all live in and let me tell
you becoming awake and aware, is work.

I wish you the best in your Health, Wealth and
Happiness
