The Attitude of Gratitude

Two months ago, my oldest son was riding his motorcycle with a group of 15 friends. They usually ride a few days a week in the summer.

These guys are experienced, trained riders, and some go to the track to give lessons to help people ride their motorcycles the way it was intended. The emphasis is safety, the laws and emergency driving skills and technics.

The bikers were riding in downtown Detroit at around 1 am and a newbie joined the ride. He wasn’t as skilled as the other guys, and he hit a car and fell off his bike going around 60 MPH. The automobile driver lost control and the car hit my son. He flew off of his bike and hit the median. Luckily, he had on full leather gear and a helmet that saved his life.

When someone has a life-threatening trauma in their life, one’s whole life changes. Sometimes it’s positive and sometimes it’s not. It depends on your support system as well as your mental/emotional make-up.

I was in Detroit for two weeks when the accident happened, and when he came out of the coma, I instructed him. I reminded him of the meditations I taught him throughout the years. He couldn’t speak at the time, but when I asked him if he remembered, he shook his head yes.

Now, he’s in physical therapy six days a week for 5 hours at a time. He’s been very grateful for his life, and how quickly he’s recovering.

Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you’ll have even more to express gratitude for.” – Zig Ziglar

Our family is grateful for all of your concerned cards, emails, messages, thoughts and support. My son is healing well.

When this type of thing happens to a friend or family member, everyone’s consciousness opens as well as their hearts. Many patients as well as students ask me for support – on not only a physical level, but also on the mental/emotional.
