Breaking Through

How many times in your life have you wanted to
make a difference in yourself and those around
you, and didn’t do it?

Do you think it was from lack of ability, laziness
or PROCRASTINATION?

When I was studying with one of my masters, he
always emphasized doing what you say and saying
what you do. If you say you’re going to walk a
mile every morning, for God’s sake, do it. Here’s
what happens if you say it and don’t do it. You’re
training the brain to be lazy and procrastinate.
After a while, if you continue this pattern, your
subconscious behavior will say she or he doesn’t
mean it.

The next thing you know, your knee hurts, your
thigh hurts, you have pain in your foot or in your
back. The brain is now making you congruent. If
you say you’ll do something and then don’t, now
you have a reason. This shuts certain things off
in your body. Our integrity wants to keep us
honest, and our mind causes a dis-ease which turns
into a disease.

Many years ago, I lived in Venezuela. On one of my
birthdays, I decided I would celebrate by walking
to the top of the mountain early in the morning.
All of my friends warned me that the mountain was
very dangerous. And of course, I asked what the
danger was, but they said they didn’t know. At 5
am I got up to walk to the top of the mountain
that 95 % of my friends had never done, even
though they lived in the area all of their lives.

Once at the peak, I was able to look out and see
the city on one side and the ocean on the other.
It was one of the most spiritual experiences I
ever had. It opened my heart, and after about 9
hours, I got back into the city. It was a long,
beautiful hike. I said I’d do it, and I did it.

Last week was my son’s birthday, and he decided to
go on a long bicycle ride on desert terrain in
Arizona. He left at 3 am, and he didn’t get home
until the following morning. He covered over 200
miles. He said he would do it, and he did it.

How many things in your life are you going to say
you’ll do, and then blow them off as if they don’t
really mean anything? One thing we all have power
over – is our word. If you say it will be a bad
day, sure enough – it will be. If you say it’s
going to be a good day, it will be so.

How would my students feel if I said I was going
to teach a class, and I didn’t show up? I wouldn’t
have students for very long. Right now, I’m
teaching Flying Crane Qi Gong course. It’s a
6-week program and every week, the students are
there early to practice. Although the class is
just one hour, sometimes it’s so much fun, that we
spend two hours together.

If you’re interested in Qi Gong classes to build
your body, mind and spirit, call the office at
