I saw a Cardiologist a few weeks ago to check out my heart and after a slew of tests he found that my ticker was doing just fine.
I really didn’t have any symptoms but I always think it’s a good time to look inside to see what’s what, just in case. I had no shortness of breath, no chest pain or dizzy spells. He checked my Blood Pressure, Weight, Heart, Lungs and Blood Vessels and all was good! He didn’t recommend any lifestyle changes or anything else, and I know each patient’s case is unique, but I was expecting a little more.
Heart patients should work closely with their Cardiologists, Families and Healthcare team to achieve the best heart health possible! If they are living a lifestyle of drinking, over eating and consuming junk food, it going to be a long, tough road to recovery.
Just to break it down these were the test that my Heart Doctor run on me. He did the standard Echocardiogram – a sound wave picture to look at the structure and function of the heart.
And just to be safe an Ambulatory ECG – a recording during activity to look for abnormal heart rhythms.
He inquired whether I exercised, smoked and if I had any pain or discomfort. I asked him about the treadmill exercise test – ‘a study to measure my heart’s performance and limitation.’ He said it wasn’t necessary. I then asked about my kidneys and he said, “It doesn’t have anything to do with your heart health!”
As you know I have been practicing Chinese Medicine for the past 25 years in Florida, and the balance between the Heart (Fire) and the Kidneys (Water) is the first thing I test. Although my heart was fine and I did go to a nephrologist the following week to check my kidneys, every thing was A –Ok!
It is always best to have everything checked out to make sure all systems are running to their optimum!
I have scheduled myself for a test that checks all of my organs, my teeth, the function of my hormones and a lot more.
