Adventures In Big Indian!

One of the reasons I went to Big Indian, New York; was to Work, Practice and Study, with Lama Rangbar Nyimai Özer.

He is the President and Founder of Bodhivastu Foundation for Enlightened Activity.

My time was spent working on the Stupa, a renewal for me as I worked on it Forty some years ago.

On Monday morning we did a practice and ceremony to honor the Naga’s

Naga is the Sanskrit word for ‘Snake’ and it’s also the name of a Semi-Divine race of Supernatural Beings, also known as Water Spirits, Guardians, Personified Forces of Nature, or Divine Water-Serpents
and aspect of Shiva.

Nagas are heavily featured in both the Hindu and Buddhist Mythology of India. Some are said to possess a Divine Pearl of Knowledge.

In most of Southeast Asia, Nagas are usually described as part-human, part snake.
They guard treasures deep within the earth, like precious metals or jewels. Water Nagas reside in Palaces of Gold, Ruby, or Emerald at the bottoms of Springs, Lakes and Rivers.

Nagas can be wrathful and can bring storms or floods, when they are not respected and in their peaceful aspect will bring wealth, riches and a harmonious environment.

The practice was quite extensive, as we made offerings of snake pills, herbs, a fire burning of mugwort and milk was offered. Them we all walked to the pond in front of the Rudy shrine, dipped in the water, chest deep; and made the offerings to the Nagas.

This was a very strong emotional practice for me, that I was grateful to a part of!

Upon my return to Miami, I called my cousin and told her about my adventures in Big Indian  and she sent me this article from the New York Times.

Federal Judge Strikes Down Rule Governing Water Pollution.

The rule allowed fertilizers, pesticides and industrial chemicals to flow into small streams, marshes and wetlands. The judge warned of environmental harm.
WASHINGTON — A federal judge on Monday struck down a Trump-era environmental rule that drastically limited federal restrictions against pollution of millions of streams, wetlands and marshes across the country.

The Biden administration had already begun the lengthy process of undoing the policy, which President Donald J. Trump established in 2020 after farmers, real estate developers and fossil fuel producers complained that Obama-era rules had saddled them with onerous regulatory burdens. Mr. Trump’s policy allowed the discharge of pollutants such as fertilizers, pesticides and industrial chemicals into smaller streams and wetlands.

With all that’s going on in the World we are definitely in need of Prayers and Supplications!

One never know how prayers will affect us or our world. We may say a prayer or make an offering in one part of the world and although we may not see the results right away, somewhere it affects so many things, people and our environment.

Keep on Practicing what you do; as it affects all of us!

I wish you the Best in your Health, Wealth & Happiness!
