How to Cultivate Qi in the Lower Dantain

How to cultivate Qi in the Lower Dantain

When I mention the Dantian most people don’t have
a clue what it is or where it is. The Dantian, is
translated as – Elixir field”, Sea of Qi”, or
simply Energy or storage center, it’s also known
in alchemy as “The Cinnabar Fields”

“There are three Cinnabar Fields, the lower
Cinnabar Field is the Cinnabar Field in the strict
sense. Different views exist concerning its
position. The medical texts usually say that it is
located 1.3 inches below the navel. According to
the alchemical texts, instead, it is found 1.3
inches behind the navel.” That’s where the Dantian
is!

It is the major energy storage facility in our
body; everything we understand about our
physical/emotional balance, and connection to
intuition can be credited to our health and
wellbeing to the three Dantian’s.

The lower Dantian has countless functions and
responsibilities for the body. It gathers Earth’s
energy, which keeps one grounded and centered and
is closely related to jing (Our essence, semen and
vital force. It is the most refined “essence of
Qi”: the material basis for the body, the fluid
essence that contains the life force. Along with
Qi, the life force, and Shen, the spirit, Jing,
the essence, is considered one of the “three
treasures” in Traditional Chinese medicine.)

The Lower Dantian and jing are responsible for our
physicality as a whole. When the jing is strong
and the Lower Dantian is packed with Qi , you are
strong, robust, and full of stamina and radiate
physical energy. When the jing is feeble and the
lower Dantian is uncultivated and weak, the person
will is frail, aging, and low energy.

The Lower Dantian is considered the body’s “second
brain.” The term “gut feeling” comes from the
notion that the Lower Dantian is the home for
kinesthetic feelings, communication, and
awareness. Western science follows a similar
concept crediting the enteric nervous system as
the brain in the gut. Researchers have found that
much like the brain in the head, the enteric
nervous system sends and receives impulses,
records experiences, and responds to emotions.

The Masters of Energy Medicine, the healers in the
Qigong world, and the mystics in Daoism all know
this and this is why we begin to cultivate and
store Qi in the lower Dantian.
