My Organic Garden!

Growing up in Detroit my family always had a Summer Garden. I remember picking fresh radishes and pulling sweet tomatoes right off the vine; adding a little salt to it. So delicious!

I have been tending gardens for years, wherever I resided; and I feel so fortunate to be able to grow my own food, living here in South Florida.

Most of my back yard is an oasis of fruit trees, herbs and veggies growing. I’ll be harvesting for the next (6) months, that is if these Vegan Iguanas don’t discover my plot. Planting started the first week of October; and I’m already eating Organic Greens!

You can really taste the difference from store bought vegetables; even if they are organic, they just don’t measure up.

As an environmentally conscious gardener, I compose all my scraps, leaves, weeds, coffee grounds etc, if it isn’t organic and not eaten, it gets recycled!  Nothing goes to waste and I have adopt gardening practices that protect the soil—this is where we’re storing carbon—while minimizing climate impacts beyond the boundaries of your garden.

The garden not only feeds me, but it also gives back to Mother Earth and our environment. If you have a piece of land, start a garden; no matter how small or large, it will serve you, your family and the world.

Healing your Body, Mind and Spirit, are all part of the general plan to stay Alive and Thrive.
