Pineapple Express In My Garden.

Three years ago I moved into a new home in Hollywood Florida, just a few blocks from the Ocean. One of the first things I did was plant a Vegetable Garden, when I settled in.

I enjoy Organic Food and I only know that it’s Organic when I plant it myself!  I’m from Michigan and I remember my parents and grandparents always had gardens; so naturally I was eating and growing organic food all of my life!

Now that I live in Florida I still carry on the tradition. I have Mangos, Mountain Guavas, Bananas, Papayas, and I also have Pineapples.

The Pineapples take the longest to grow.  More than Two years to get a ripe one, but it’s worth waiting for! The Pineapple is more than just a delicious tropical fruit — it offers significant health benefits as well. In fact, it’s been used in folk medicine since ancient times. It’s native to the Americas and is also grown in tropical climates around the world.
“Pineapple is a great source of vitamin C, B vitamins, fiber and minerals like manganese.”
I love incorporating pineapple into my diet. Here are eight reasons why:

1. Pineapple Is a Fruit That’s Rich in Vitamin C.
“The standout nutrient in pineapple is vitamin C, which supports the immune system and provides antioxidant benefits.”

2. It helps to keep you trim.
Pineapple helps decrease fat formation and increase fat breakdown..
It’s low in calories, high in important vitamins and minerals and does not include saturated fats or trans fats.”
“Pineapple is lower in calories than other sweet treats, you will consume fewer calories and in turn, lose weight. Pineapple also delivers fiber (which can help control your blood sugar level and help you eat less because it keeps you feeling full.

3. Eating Pineapple Aids Digestion.
Pineapple contains bromelain, which is a mix of enzymes that studies show can reduce inflammation and nasal swelling and also aid in the healing of wounds and burns. It’s also been linked to helping improve digestion and it’s found that the bromelain in pineapple may help reduce the effects of diarrhea.

4. The Manganese in Pineapple Promotes Healthy Bones.
Along with calcium, the trace mineral manganese is essential for maintaining strong bones. Pineapple is one of the top food sources of the mineral.

5. Pineapple Is Packed with Disease-Fighting Antioxidants.
Pineapple is a great source of antioxidants, specifically phenolics, flavonoids and vitamin C. “Antioxidants are compounds in food that may help fight inflammation and free radicals in the body.”

6. Thanks to It’s Antioxidants, Pineapple Has Cancer-Fighting Properties.

7. Pineapple Fits in an Anti-Inflammatory Diet.
Too much inflammation can lead to many diseases, including coronary artery disease, diabetes, cancer and Alzheimers; a diet rich in anti-inflammatory foods, such as pineapple can help reduce the amount of inflammation in the body.

8. Pineapple’s Nutrient Profile Means the Fruit Can Help Boost Immunity.

Pineapple is known as the “libido lifter.” They contain high levels of Vitamin C and thiamine, which promote happy hormones and give a boost of energy – both of which can keep you sexy and smiling. Pineapples also contain manganese, which is revered for sexual health, especially among the guys.

Yesterday I picked my first home grown organic pineapple from my yard!

It was a beautiful golden color and had such a sweet aroma! This pineapple took me two years to grow with a lot of love. I’ve never grown a pineapple before!

When I was ready to eat this beautiful gem I did a special ritual! I thanked the Garden Spirits for producing such a spectacular fruit for me to enjoy. Then I cut a small piece and placed it in a bowl and took it outside and offered it to the Spirit of the Garden.

Then I carefully cut the fruit, and as I ate the delicious treat I thanked the earth for giving this to me! I thanked the sky for sending the water, I thanked the mineral elements for all the healthy minerals and vitamins that were put into the fruit. I thanked the sun for it’s warmth and solar healing energy and I thanked the plant for giving me the pineapple.

As I ate the fruit I could feel the Qi running through my body and healing all my cells!
Being thankful and grateful for what the Universe offers IS the key to Health and Longevity!
