Is Old Man Winter Putting The Chill On You?

Old man Winter is putting a Chill on us in the Northern Hemisphere.

It’s been Cool in Florida and Raining for a few days, which puts a chill in the body.

Winter is the Season to nourish the Kidneys.
Time to put a big pot of soup on the burner and quiet the mind.

Emphasizing the Yin Principle is paramount in this Season. Being more receptive when our bodies get cold, and the importance of warming up the Core.

The Winter Season should be a time for more Rest, Meditation and to Refine your Spiritual Practices.

The ability to listen clearly; is heightened in the silent months, as the Kidneys open to our ears.

It’s a time to be quite, inside and out. The Kidney is the Organ most effected in the Winter.

Add more Warm and Hearty Soups, Whole Grains and Roasted Nuts to your diet, to nourish the Kidneys.

More Salty and Bitter Foods are best for the cold winters. They help the body to store the Qi, but go easy on the salt.

Foods like Chestnuts, Watercress
Endive, Escarole, Turnips, Celery and Asparagus, are all beneficial. Also incorporate some seaweed.

In Chinese Medicine; the Kidneys are considered the Root or Foundation of the body, Our Sex Organs and Low Back. They provide energy and warmth to the body.

If there is an Imbalance, one may experience Back Problems, Knee Pain, Hearing Loss, Hair loss or Dryness and Premature Aging. Brain Fog will be a problem as well. Let’s just call it, “No Bounce in your Pounce.”

The Emotion associated with the Kidney is Fear and Insecurity. On the Positive Side is Gentleness with yourself; and others.

Stay Warm, Nourished and Happy.

I wish you the Best in your Health, Wealth & Happiness!
