Transformation and Progress

Friday morning, I was on my way to see winter with a scarf around my neck, gloves, a wool hat and my winter coat.

Motown is in a chilly 20-degree freeze. But the city is bustling with activity. Like the Phoenix bird that plunged into the fire – Detroit had a rebirth. Downtown has a new face with some of the top restaurants and retail outlets. I lived in Detroit during the riots and watched it burn.

Eventually, it died. It then slowly tried to have a rebirth, but greedy government killed it again. The three big auto-makers closed up shop and the population dwindled to a quarter its size. It looked like a war zone burned down the houses, closed the factories and only a shell was left of a once powerful city.

Now, the power of the Phoenix has returned from the ashes once again. It’s a joy to see the transformation – a rebirth of a strong city with a tough group of people bringing back light and love. We all have crashes and burn parts of life away. Some of us become victims and lose our way, turn to alcohol or drugs.

Others burn our heads in the sand like big dumb birds. And then there are the vultures who take advantage of these situations and swoop down and feed on them. Then there are those who come together and build and restore from the ashes. What kind of bird are you?

The one who sticks his head in the sand or the bird that is reborn and rebuilds his or her life? We all have the opportunity to be on top of the world – if we choose so.

My master once said, “All one needs is the education and the commitment to have whatever you want in life.”

We need to muster up our own commitment to move forward with our businesses, our families, on our projects as well as our spiritual lives. Think about that over this holiday season and make it a commitment.

To assist in your growth goals, I’ll be teaching a series of classes and workshops on meditation, stress reduction, self-cultivation, Qigong and internal exercise. In 2019, choose to find your balance, transform yourself, restore your vitality and keep your balance.
