The Sacred Dakini Spirit

The female embodiment of enlightenment is called Dakini in the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit. Dakinis are elusive and playful by nature and somewhat terrifying. In their presence, you first feel their energy.

Dakinis have visited me in the past. The first one hovered over my bed and scared the bejeebers out of me. Then another one reappeared a few nights ago.

In Tibetan, the word Dakini means “Space Dancer.” These awakened entities have left the restrictions of their bodies and have the vastness of open space to play in. On interior levels, they are meditational deities, the energetic embodied minds of tantric yoga. Dakinis may appear as messengers, guides and sometimes as protectors.

All women have the qualities of the Dakini energy and so do some men. It’s said that the more open a person is during their meditations, the stronger the energy will be. It’s the creative yin (feminine) energy that gives strength, softness and power at the same time.

Dakinis appear in many different forms and are the most important element of the enlightened feminine. If we are not willing to invite the Dakini energy into our lives, then we cannot enter higher levels of consciousness.

I was so delighted to be visited by such a powerful energy again, that it inspired me to teach more and share my skills of healing and meditation.
