Moving Forward on Your Path

I left my home in the Rocky Mountains in the
seventies for the first time in many years. I was
living in the ashram with the “Lama on the
Mountain” and a group of devoted students. I
received an emergency call from my father, asking
me if I’d come back to Michigan to help him and my
brother run the family business.

Although I wasn’t really ready to leave, my Master
and I felt I had to come home and help out, so I
packed up my stuff and headed east.

Moving back to Michigan from Colorado was a huge
move for me at the time. I was really involved in
spiritual growth and the consciousness movement
and Michigan seemed to be a big distraction in my
personal growth, but I need to go where I was most
needed.

After working with my family for a few months we
started to turn things around and I decided to
take the “EST training” to get back on my own path
once again. “EST” was a two-weekend crash course
in consciousness, popular during the 1970s this
was the prototype and inspiration for many human
potential workshops that continue to this day. The
purpose of EST was “to transform one’s ability to
experience living so that the situations one had
been trying to change or had been putting up with,
clear up just in the process of life itself.

One of the EST’s sayings that I really liked was:
“You don’t have to go looking for love, when love
is where you come from”
Detroit was where I came from so I made the best
of it.

“No matter where you go, there you are”

I had to make Michigan work for me no matter what.
I had obligations to fulfill my committeemen to my
family and needed to continue on my Spiritual path
as well, so I did exactly that. I worked at the
store Monday through Friday and on the weekends
and evenings working on a TV show on alternative
health for Public Access TV called “Expect
Miracles Show”, I practiced Aikido at the inner
city dojo and taught meditation and Qi Gong
classes and again my life changed for the better.

If you want to be your best you have to know first
where you are going.
