Treasure Hunting

Treasure Hunting

Where can you go treasure hunting? Every morning,
I walk to the beach to train. This morning, my
friend, Bob, joined me and we took a two-hour walk
before starting our practice. We started around
six o’clock, and we were off the beach by nine. I
usually don’t get this much time in the morning
but, today we did. I always like to get in at
least a few days where I can spend hours training
and building Qi. The intensity that one gets in a
long training will open up treasures inside of you
that a casual practice will never touch. As we are
getting longer days and headed into spring, I am
starting to focus on cleaning up things from my
winter diet and detoxifying my system on four
different levels: kidneys, liver, intestines and
the lymphatic system.

Why is it important to detox as the seasons
change?
1. It gives your body a break in one’s daily
addictive habits.
2. It gives the digestive system a rest.
3. It relieves the body/mind complex from the
usual daily stresses.
4. It allows the body to begin the release of its
internal toxic congestion.
5. It enables the body to catch up on rest and
sleep.

As you begin a detox program, it’s a good time to
back off from heavy trainings for a few days and
let your body/mind rest to get rid of stuff you no
longer want. This is the time you want to take
long walks, drink a lot of water, increase your
meditation, and take in the morning sun. If you
can go to a sauna, that would be good and start
using a dry brush to slough off dry, dead skin.

As I was doing my practice, a guy with a long,
chin beard that looked like a Billy goat was
standing at the shoreline with a metal detector in
hand and bright orange headphones on a scoop. He
was obviously looking for a treasure. That was the
same thing I was doing in my practice, looking for
a buried treasure inside. I am digging daily
deeper and deeper and, every day, I discover more
and more riches.
