Activating The Meridians

Activating The Meridians

From 1987 to 1989, I lived in Caracas, Venezuela.
That experience changed my life forever. I never
planned to live there, but our karma leads us
where we must be to fulfill it. I was working with
a client in La Jolla, California when I received a
call from my Guru. He asked me if I would be
willing to move to Caracas for six months and
guide the meditation group in some of the advanced
work. I asked him, when do you need me to be
there? He said, in three days. After my immediate
shock, I left California and was picked up at the
Mika Tia Airport, around an hour away from
Caracas. After a good meal and a good night’s
sleep, I met the group of forty-some people who
were hungry for more teachings from our Master. My
experience there changed my karma and my life
forever. I still have many friends from Venezuela,
some lives in Spain, Dominican Republic, Cuba, and
Miami, and others less fortunate are stuck in
Caracas, living in not the best conditions.

Last week, Americo contacted me and asked if I
share some of the teachings that he needed at this
time. He wanted to know how to activate the
meridians. First, let me give you a little
background on what the meridians are. According to
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), our body
consists of a giant web or rivers of energy called
the meridians. They are like rivers linking
different organ systems together. The meridian
channels, making up a comprehensive yet complex
body map that supplies Qi or energy to every part
of the body, assist the distribution of blood and
body fluids, maintain the balance between yin and
yang, and protect the body against disease. Along
these channels are the sites through which the Qi
flows. If everything is flowing smoothly, there is
harmony of body, mind and spirit and good health.
But if there is a blockage mentally, physically,
emotionally, spiritually or energetically, the Qi
is blocked. It is like throwing a large boulder
into the river. This causes a blockage and, before
you know it, there is a dis-ease.

Diseases can be treated when the affected
meridians or the affected organs are cleared.
Acupuncturists work on these points to regulate
corresponding organs so that the body can return
to a state of balance and health. The meridian
system is made up by a series of rivers, which are
sequential to each other in the circulation of Qi:
the twelve regular meridians plus the central and
governing meridians. Their job is connecting the
internal organs. The Qi travels in these rivers of
energy, and what follows the Qi are blood and
oxygen that keep the organs healthy, young and
disease-free. They work closely with each other;
if there is a dysfunction in one, it affects the
other.

The twelve primary paired meridians are:
6 yang and 6 yin – yin and yang forming a pair.
↓ Stomach meridian (yang) flows to the
↑ Spleen meridian (yin)
↑ Heart meridian (yin) flows to the ↓
Small Intestine meridian (yang)
↓ Bladder meridian (yang) flows to the
↑ Kidney meridian(yin)
↑ Pericardium meridian (yin) flows to
↓ Triple Warmer meridian (yang)
↓ Gallbladder meridian (yang) flows to the
↑ Liver meridian (yin)
↑ Lung meridian (yin) flows to the ↓
Large Intestine meridian (yang)

There are also two single mid-meridians:
Governing Vessel or central flows to the
Conception Vessel or governing meridian
To activate the meridians, I start off by
remembering the color of each element: Fire is
red, Earth is yellow, Metals is white, Water is
blue or black, and the Wood Element is green.
Every element has an organ that relates to it.
Fire element rules the heart and small intestine
as well as the triple burner and pericardium. The
Earth element affects the stomach and spleen.
Metal element is the ruler of yin organ of the
lungs and the yang organ of the large intestine.
The Water element rules the kidney and bladder,
and the Wood element rules the liver and
gallbladder. Once you commit the colors and
pathways of the energy flows to memory, you can
start tracing the pathways of the meridians. This
will take some practice but, in a few days, you
should have it down. I find that the visualization
and actual physical tracing of the meridians will
open up the channels and get the energy flowing.
In some cases, if there is a blockage in the
energy flow, it may be necessary to see an
acupuncturist for some professional help.

I wish you the best in your Health, Wealth and
Happiness.
