The Summer Solstice Magic

The Summer Solstice Magic

The Northern Hemisphere Summer Solstice is on
Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 12:24 am EDT. The
solstice that we experience exists because the
axis of the rotation of the earth is at an angle
of 23.4 degrees to the vertical axis. A solstice
is an astronomical event that takes place twice a
year when the sun reaches its highest position in
the sky as seen from the North and South poles of
the Earth. The word “solstice” comes from the
Latin word, “sol,” meaning sun, and “stice,” to
stand still. The summer solstice is the longest
day of the year. It’s the time when the sun is
most powerful.

Depending on your individual spiritual path, there
are many different ways you can celebrate the
Solstice. Most traditions that I know of celebrate
the power of the sun. Take the time to enjoy the
outdoors, and getting back to nature would be a
good activity on the solstice day and a good day
to spend time in meditation. Here are a few
rituals that I to do to celebrate the Summer
Solstice: I practice Qigong before the sun comes
up, participate in a meditation, spend some time
near a body of water and make a ritual Puja fire!

There are many types of deities, which are a
manifestation during a Puja. These deities
specifically emanate at a particular time for an
individual or a group, sometimes as a color,
shape, size, stance, facial expression, and
holding the necessary tools to overcome, subdue
and purify that particular karma or ailment in
your life. Every Puja is slightly different, but
the effects are the same. The fire Puja is
considered the leader of all Pujas. It is the most
powerful of all pujas within Tibetan Buddhism, and
its purpose is to remove obstacles.

Throughout the ages, many cultures worship the sun
and do practices around the changing of the
seasons as part of their religious practice. The
Native Americans have the sun dance. Monolithic
structures are found all over the world to worship
the sun. Ancient cultures have stories of the sun
and poetry about the powers of its energy and
healing qualities.

Take some time this week to spend a few hours in
the sun, either at sunrise or sunset, and get
ready to reset your internal channels for the next
three months.

I wish you the best in your Health, Wealth and
Happiness.
