This was the week when every one who came in the office had Kleenexes pouring from their pockets.

The office was packed with people with stuffed up heads, nostrils flooding and unable to stand up for more than a few minutes at a time. This hack- and sniffle season is in full force, with all the coughs, sore throats and stiff muscles…

If you want to avoid getting sick practice relaxing techniques like Qi gong, yoga and meditation .

I find that colds don’t hit you as hard or as long if you are practicing Qi Gong.

Yes that’s right, de-stress can shorten the amount of time you suffer with a cold if one does catch you.

When people are calm and relaxed they have fewer days of misery.

The respiratory system and the saliva secret more antibodies to block viruses from latching onto the cells.

Pointers to keep you healthy.
1.      Wash your hands often
2.      Use paper towels to dry
3.      Avoid rubbing your eyes and nose.
4.      Avoid antibiotics they have no effect on a cold
5.      Go to bed early
6.      Avoid drinking cold drinks.  it’s better to drink hot teas peppermint, chrysanthemum and honeysuckle flower are a good combination
7.      Pure air and water are essential for good health. Keep up with your Qigong deep breathing

For centuries the Chinese have observed the changes of the weather and have dressed and eaten accordingly to prevent colds and flu’s.  A Cold indicates that we are out of harmony with the change of seasons.

Keep Clean to avoid the cooties:

“Change affects the body and thus brings disease…..
The troublesome winds affect beneath the lung, brining about illness in this place….
Saliva and mucus appear: evil winds then bring chills, and this causes the illness of the troublesome winds”.
-The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine

In this season Increase the frequentness of chest strikes to open and clear the lungs and clear the body of stagnant energy as you build your Wei Qi field. It is a good exercise to keep your immune system strong. It’s the second exercise in the Recharging Qigong Exercise program and to get ride of the stiffness do the Head Rotations, and The Neck Brace

Energetic Maturity

I was on the phone is morning with one of my students that I coach and it must
have been a bad connection because we got disconnected – right before we hung up.

But then again, maybe the part of the connection that was failing was between
where the phone met his ear and his Heart – and when I say Heart with a Capital
“H”
I’m not talking about the heart that pumps blood. In Esoteric Chinese Medicine
we call this Heart the Shen.

The Heart is the seat of wisdom in the Tibetan culture, in fact Tibetan
literature
often speaks of the Heart of Wisdom.

This is because, just like in Qi Gong, the Heart or Shen must be clear and
undisturbed for the Spirit to be focused. When the Shen is disturbed almost
nothing
can be accomplished with a positive result.

Let me give you an example.

I have a patient, let’s call him Will, who started a small business on the side.
It’s
important to note for this story that the reason “Why” he started this business
was
not only to make money but because it was a way of doing more of what he really
loved.

In the beginning he was excited all the time and when ever he spoke about this
new
business he was full of optimism and enthusiasm. He created this business and
started to make money – what a JOY! This is what we all want to do, find
something
we love and get paid to do it.

Well eventually his focus changed with the downturn of the economy. Now he
needed that extra money and “needed it bad”. Suddenly his joy in life took a
very
serious turn and that energy, that tension, came across in everything he did in
this
new business. His Joy became a Job and he wasn’t even having fun any more.

When I was speaking with him on the phone this morning I told him that it was
the
“Tension” he was putting into it.

He said “I am putting all my Attention into it”.

“No I said Tension” which is funny because you can’t be attentive and be tense
at
the same time, ask any trained fighter, when you get tense you get hit.

I want to point out that Will is actually doing better and is more skilled in
this new
business than he has been previously, he is making more money than he previously
every did but he’s a wreak calling me up freaking out.

Why?

Because he is not internally organized energetically, his Shen is disturbed. All
he can
see is that which is not done and is now anxious and uncomfortable. Not a great
reward for your “life’s work”, where’s the JOY now?

The truth is that you can force yourself to success but at what cost?

It is true that you can get ahead in business by putting negative emotion into
it,
rush, anger, jealousy and pride can keep you up at night and move the business
right along to new heights. Almost all the power executives I treat as patients
work
like this and they are very successful but they are completely blown out
energetically
and aging 10x faster than any of my Qi Gong students.

The problem is this:

These people have trained themselves to work this way and cannot change because
they cannot deny the apparent success.

The pattern is to overload themselves, freak out and then get it all done. When
they
collapse I put them back together on the acupuncture table but I can’t get them
to
change this pattern until they learn the Qi Gong. http://rechargingqigong.com

Consider the person who whines and complains every time they go to the
restaurant
and never leaves a good tip. Sure they eventually train the waitress to
accommodate
them but not happily. What they don’t know is that she is spitting in their food
every
time.

This works the same energetically in your own body. You can use tension to stay
up
and be productive but blow out your kidneys and adrenal glands.

There is another way!

One of the greatest yoga teachers I have ever known could teach non-stop around
the clock without showing any sign of being tired. When I asked him what kind of
tea he was drinking he told me that it was Love that kept him awake.

“When you are deeply in love with someone do you ever feel tired around them?”
the
Master said to me and it has stuck with me ever since.

In 2009 I have decided to teach “The 9 Ways of Being”, this is an expansion on
what I
have previously taught as internal Feng Shui and it is all about internal
organization
of your own energy.

Imagine realizing your dreams with a smile on your face and without Tension.

Imagine turning your J O B into a Joy.

Imagine living life with a vibrance and enthusiasm that makes you physically
younger every day.

Imagine that there is a healing energy inside you that is bursting to get out.

When you quiet the Shen and balance the 9 Ways of Being this all comes
effortlessly.

I am very excited to be sharing all of this with you this year.

Wishing you the BEST in Health, Wealth and Happiness,

Dr. Wu Dhi

PS: I don’t have to wish you a Happy New Year because I know when you get what
I’ve been working on 2009 IS GOING TO BE THE BEST and most life changing year
yet. Watch for my emails and make sure in these uncertain times that YOU are the
most significant influence in your own life!
